I received my B.M. in Viola Performance from Texas Christian University.
I enjoy teaching students of all ages and all levels! I teach small group lessons, chamber lessons, and solo lessons.
I generally start beginning and intermediate students with the Suzuki method, supplemented with materials of my choosing like easy theory, sight reading, and scales. I also incorporate fun books, such as Disney hits and film soundtrack solos, to encourage a love of learning and an incentive to practice for younger players.
For more advanced players, I use curriculum I've assembled myself, tailored to each student's specific needs. I encourage my students to audition for All-Region, All-State, concerto competitions, UIL, and local youth orchestras, giving them the tools they need to reach their goals.
As a teacher, I maintain a positive learning environment and approach each student as an individual. The process of practicing and learning is important to me, and I consider it an honor to help students find ways to unleash their potential.
My rates are for an hour lesson. However, if you or your child would like to take a shorter lesson (especially young students), contact me and we can try to work something out!
Ms. Aubrey is fun and upbeat and we enjoy having her teach creative writing to our kids. She's patient and comes up with ingenious ways to make English make sense (she also writes her own grammar and spelling quizzes).
Ms. Aubrey also teaches violin and viola to my high school aged daughter, encouraging her and giving her practice tricks that seem to really help! My daughter's technique has improved so much and I think she actually enjoys practicing now.
I have been teaching privately for four years with a studio capacity of 30 students. I enjoy having a close-knit studio where I can know each student individually and maintain a positive, musical camaraderie.
My students have competed in concerto competitions, and participate in youth orchestras in the DFW Metroplex.
