I am a qualified teacher with 24 years of experience teaching English to second language students when I was in South Africa. I taught students from all walks of life but spent most of my years teaching students from disadvantaged backgrounds and where English was not their native language. I am now able to provide my services now that I have relocated permanently to Hobart. I enjoy working with people, particularly children as I quite enjoy their enthusiasm, curiosity and challenges they put forth during their learning process. Having mentioned that, I have worked with adults teaching them basic literacy and communication skills. I am able to provide an individual one-on-one service or assist students in a group session (maximum 5 per group to provide an efficient and successful service). I also possess an IELTS certificate (I achieved an overall academic score of 8,5 on first attempt) and am able to assist anyone that needs lessons before writing their IELTS test as well.

I have trained and mentored new teachers and assisted them with teaching strategies for teaching English as a ESL as well as to learners who are high flyers. Sessions included teaching comprehension, writing processes, ways to improve learners' listening and speaking skills.
I hosted many extra-mural clubs where children were able to learn through fun activities and games, whilst improving their vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking skills.
