I believe in a 'hands on' method of training, i.e., making sure the trainee is involved in what is being taught, not just being talked at. I always explain the reasons behind what I am training, and make sure the trainee understands what he/she is doing. I like to try to inject humour into the training, as this relaxes the trainee and prompts them to remember what they are being taught. The English language is complex and not always logical, so there's a lot of rote learning necessary and I try to ensure that this is not boring but enjoyable.
I have many years work experience drafting and proof reading documents both for internal and external use. I have been trained in Essential Writing for Executive Levels and Report Writing and I have completed a Certificate in Professional Editing and Proof Reading from Open Colleges with distinctions and high distinctions. I also have a Diploma in Business. I have a lot of experience in training, mainly one-on-one. I am patient and tolerant, with a good sense of humour. I love the English language, and love to hear it spoken and see it written correctly.
2016 I retired from the Australian Public Service after nearly 40 years, with experience in a number of positions. Most of these positions required me to be able to produce documents that were factual, correct, and easy to read and understand. They were directed to members of the public as well as departmental colleagues.
2017 - completed my Certificate in Professional Editing and Proof Reading with Distinctions and High Distinctions
Present - after completing several projects at home I am now looking for a part time occupation inn the field of the English language.
