I have 4 years professional experience as a Metallurgist in the minerals processing industry, which took me to over 10 mines in Australia; mining metals such as copper, lead, zinc, nickel, silver and gold. I am able to provide technical knowledge in the grinding and flotation aspects of minerals processing, as this is where my technical knowledge has been developed in so far. I also have extensive industrial laboratory experience in these aspects of minerals processing and a strong chemistry background.

I am relatively new to the tutoring field, having only tutored a couple of high school mathematics students back in 2010. However, I am very patient and have a wealth of technical knowledge from a professional background that will be beneficial for anyone embarking on a career in the minerals processing industry.

January 2014 – November 2017 Project Metallurgist
Magotteaux are an international company making wear components for the cement, mining and service industries. The Downstream Processing (DP) team conduct laboratory, pilot and plant based test work demonstrating how converting from forged steel (electrochemically active) to high chrome white iron (electrochemically inert) grinding media can alter the pulp and surface chemistry, which leads to an improvement in the metallurgical response of sulphide ores.
• Assisted the Downstream Processing (DP) team with laboratory and plant based studies investigating the impact of grinding media on downstream processing in base metal and gold operations globally.
• Organised visits to various mine sites within Australia to provide technical support for Magotteaux clients; includes nickel, gold, lead/zinc/silver, and copper circuits.
• This technical support involved sampling process streams within the grinding and flotation sections of the plant and monitoring the pulp chemistry (pH, pulp potential, dissolved oxygen concentration, temperature and oxygen demand).
• Technical reporting for laboratory and site based test work tailored to the requirements of the client, including statistical based analyses of grinding media plant trials.
• Magotteaux Sales Deal Award (July 2016): Providing technical assistance to the sales and DP team at Magotteaux Australia in the supply of 3000 tons of new grinding media to a copper/gold mining operation within Australia.
• Pulp Chemistry Literature Review (2016-2017): pH is very well understood at an industrial flotation scale and is generally the only chemical parameter measured in a grinding and flotation circuit. While the importance of Eh, dissolved oxygen, oxygen demand and EDTA extractable ion concentration are established and generally well known, a lot of the studies focus on singular minerals rather than real ore bodies and changes in an industrial flotation circuit. However, this is starting to change, especially over the last 20-30 years.
This paper looks to expand on this area and present the information in an easy to understand format.

Cement mill optimisation project; working as part of a team, I focused on improving the quantity of cement product discharged by the mill through physically inspecting the inside workings of the mill and performing subsequent optimisation calculations. Quality testing in the laboratory was also undertaken on various cement samples from the mill.
